摘要: This paper reports an experimental feasibility study of the potential for using Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) thermal sensing technology electrical fault detection in random wound coils. The is performed on prototype test coils housed a purpose built steel core section. FBG sensors are embedded between copper conductors multiple positions within coil structure and close proximity known hot spots interest. examined designed to enable emulation representative those that would be expected at outset winding events. A series experiments were separately conducted order characterise internal stress monitoring provide recognition developing fault. To this end, scenarios with different severity levels inter-turn experimentally examined. reported findings demonstrate proposed in-situ scheme induced various stages emulated
