摘要: Gastrodia elata Bl. (GE) is a traditional Chinese herb that commonly used in communities to treat convulsive disorders such as epilepsy. The purpose of the present study was determine anticonvulsive and free radical activities GE rats. In vitro studies were conducted by using brain tissue from 6 male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats treated with 120 microg/ml kainic acid (KA), or without addition various concentrations GE. vivo total 30 SD divided into 5 groups which follows: 1) normal group received an intraperitoneal injection (i.p.) PBS (Phosphate buffer saline, 1 ml/kg); 2) control KA (12 mg/kg) i.p.; 3) 1.0 oral administration g/kg min prior administration; 4) 0.5 5) PH phenytoin 20 mg/kg administration. Seizures verified behavioral observations, electroencephalograph (EEG) electromyography (EMG). Lipid peroxide levels rat brain, luminol chemiluminescence (CL) lucigenin-CL peripheral blood measured simultaneously after observations. results indicate significantly reduced KA-induced lipid vitro. Oral counts wet dog shakes (WDS), paw tremor (PT) facial myoclonia (FM) KA-treated addition, delayed onset WDS, 46 group, 63 group. A level peroxides found g/kg, groups. showed significant reduction luminol-CL compared demonstrate has scavenging activities. Further are needed clinical effectiveness anticonvulsant humans.
