摘要: A model has been proposed whereby melanomas arise through two distinct pathways dependent on the relative influence of host susceptibility and sun exposure. Such may explain site-specific patterns melanoma occurrence. To explore this model, we investigated relationship between risk general markers acute (recalled sunburns) chronic (prevalent solar keratoses) exposure, stratified by anatomic site phenotype. Our working hypothesis was that head neck have stronger associations with keratoses weaker sunburn than trunk melanomas. We conducted a collaborative analysis using original data from women subjects 11 case-control studies (2,575 cases, 3,241 controls). adjusted for potential confounding effects sunlamp use sunbathing. The magnitude did not differ significantly site, nevus count or histologic subtype melanoma. Across all sites, increased an increasing number reported lifetime "painful" sunburns, "severe" sunburns in youth (p(trend) < 0.001), pooled odds ratios (pORs) highest category versus no 3.22 [95% confidence interval (CI) 2.04-5.09] 2.10 (95%CI 1.30-3.38) 2.43 1.61-3.65) youth. Solar strongly (pOR 4.91, 95%CI 2.10-11.46), but were insufficient to assess other sites. Reported is associated major body
