Loss of α10β1 integrin expression leads to moderate dysfunction of growth plate chondrocytes

摘要: Integrin alpha10beta1 is a collagen-binding integrin expressed on chondrocytes. In order to unravel the role of alpha10 during development, we generated mice carrying constitutive deletion gene. The mutant had normal lifespan and were fertile but developed growth retardation long bones. Analysis skeleton revealed defects in plate after birth characterized by disturbed columnar arrangement chondrocytes, abnormal chondrocyte shape reduced proliferation. Electron microscopy plates from newborn an increased number apoptotic chondrocytes density collagen fibrillar network compared these structures control mice. These results demonstrate that plays specific morphogenesis function.
