摘要: Abstract Background Human fungal infections have increased at an alarming rate in recent years, particularly immunocompromised individuals. Cryptococcosis is the second most prevalent systemic infection worldwide, and individuals, representing more than 70% of cases. The incidence cryptococcosis high people with HIV/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), estimates indicating that there are one million cases cryptococcal meningitis globally per year AIDS patients. Aims aim this research was to develop a rapid flow cytometric antifungal susceptibility test compare results standard methods. Methods A reference strain clinical isolates Cryptococcus neoformans gattii were tested for amphotericin B by cytometry using propidium iodide as indicator viability. Flow (FC) compared minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values determined microdilution. Results activity ranged from MICs 0.06 2 μg/ml 11 studied. same found FC. Conclusions FC method allows same-day results, assisting selection appropriate therapies. These demonstrate excellent correlation between classic methods testing agents. This diagnosis makes it possible quickly administer effective therapeutic interventions, often saving lives.
