摘要: Biological collections are at the front line of biodiversity research, informing taxonomy, evolution, conservation and sustainable livelihoods. In April 2014, we organised a meeting Linnean Society (UK) discussing impact next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods on collections-based research. Here, explore main themes this outline incredible potential NGS to reinvent Among many opportunities interface genomics collections, focus specifically (1) genomic characterisation biological (2) enhancement development DNA-based identification, (3) tree life (4) interdisciplinary research addressing most pressing environmental challenges our times. Across world, risk, primarily due declining funding shifts in scientific fashions. We encourage all users embrace era, not only because unparalleled that it presents, but also new cross-disciplinary synergies will reinvigorate secure for future generations.
