摘要: Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) is a whole joint disease that affects all tissues, with changes in the articular cartilage (AC), subchondral bone and synovium. Pathologies menisci ligaments, however, are rarely analysed, although both known to play vital roles mechanical stability of joint. The aim our study was describe pathological ligament during development murine spontaneous post-traumatic surgically-induced OA quantify tissue mineralisation space using µCT imaging progression. Knees Str/ort mice (spontaneous model; 26-40wks) C57CBA F1 following destabilisation medial meniscus (DMM) surgery (post-traumatic 8wks after DMM), were used assess histological meniscal pathologies. Joint mineralised volume quantified by µCT. Meniscal mouse knees associated lesion severity. These included ossification, hyperplasia, cell hypertrophy, collagen type II deposition SOX9 expression fibrous region near attachment knee capsule. Anterior cruciate ligaments exhibited extracellular matrix chondrogenesis particularly at tibial site, ossification seen collateral ligaments. Similar confirmed DMM model. analysis showed increased progression models. Modifications overt AC degeneration OA. Although aetiology consequences such remain unknown, they will influence load transmission may therefore contribute In addition, these have important movement restriction pain, which represent major human clinical symptoms Description soft changes, addition degradation, should be an aspect future studies models order furnish more complete understanding pathogenesis. Summary statement This manuscript describes joints two osteoarthritis correlates measured
