摘要: Abstract Aim Inflammation occurs in diverticular disease (DD),but there is little information on inflammatory cytokinessuch as tumour necrosis factor a (TNF-a). The aim of thisstudy was to assess TNF-a expression DD and seewhether it related the severity disease.Method Twenty-four patients with symptomatic DDwere divided into those acute uncomplicated diver-ticulitis (AUD) (12 patients) symptomaticuncomplicated (SUDD) patients).Twelve further asymptomatic diverticulosis(AD), six segmental colitis associated divertic-ulosis(SCAD),withulcerativecolitis(UC)andsixhealthyindividuals (HC) were enrolled controls. TNF-aexpression colonic mucosa assessed by theamount mRNA codifying for synthesis TNF-a.Results significantly higher inAUD than HC (P = 0.0007), AD 0.0001) andin SUDD 0.0179). It also inSUDD 0.0007) AD(P 0.0001). AUD did not differsignificantly from that UC 0.0678) SCAD(P 0.0610). UC, SCADand 0.0007, P 0.0001,P 0.0179).Conclusion seems be relatedto disease. In particular, appears tobe overexpressed inflammation (AUD andSUDD) compared without (AD).Keywords Diverticular disease, diverticulitis, segmentalcolitis diverticulosis, necrosisfactor aWhat new this paper? The paper reports first time may increased diverticulardisease. results indicate factora
