摘要: Abstract Insight into the true nature of Cretaceous climate can best be grained through a worldwide study preserved climatic indicators. This focuses on reconstructing Maestrichtian (latest Cretaceous) based abundant published information from geologic record. Specifically, approach taken was to reconstruct general patterns terrestrial ecological biomes fossil megaflora and pollen Once were delineated, constraints present counterparts these used determine prevailing each region. Biome boundaries recognized by discontinuities in phytogeographic distributions variety plant groups. Detailed comparisons assemblages with present-day preferences nearest living relatives allowed region assigned modern biome. Further leaf physiognomic studies tree ring studies, integrated an extensive database climatically important sediments, helped refine biomal assignments. Altogether, 12 zones corresponding 7 major biome types have been for Late period.
