摘要: The ability of the biennial herb, Pastinaca sativa L. (wild parsnip), to respond and compensate for destruction primary umbel seeds by larvae Depressaria pastinacella (Lepidoptera: Oecophoridae) was analyzed comparing seed production damaged undamaged plants collected from five populations. Plants with a basal stem diameter smaller than 8 mm suffer reduction in set about 50% when is destroyed but larger are able loss increased tertiary umbels. Depending on plant size, this due either an increase number umbels that reach maturity or per umbel. Although significantly those secondary umbels, their viability equivalent may be greater seeds. Characteristics P. sativa's reproduction, such as long flowering period initiation more normally bring maturity, important effects herbivore damage.
