摘要: The size, shape and cellular morphology of the suprachiasmatic (SCN) paraventricular nuclei (PVN) in human hypothalamus were examined relation to sex age. In both nuclear regions following parameters determined: length rostrocaudal axis, maximum cross sectional area, volume, numerical cell density, total number cells diameter nuclei. No sexual difference was observed any these parameters, either SCN or PVN, with exception a dimorphism SCN. contrast absolute measurements, differences found internal structural organisation hypothalamic using multivariate regression analysis. Of measured only volume females showed continuous decrease ageing, whereas changes other variables not consistent. Regression analysis revealed that this is mainly caused by loss rather than reduction size. Finally, comparison volumetric measurements PVN those rat reduced size relative Possible consequences phenomenon for functional significance man are discussed.
