Crystal structures of heptakis(2,6-di-O-ethyl)cyclomaltoheptaose [heptakis(2,6-di-O-ethyl)-β-cyclodextrin]. Solvent-regulated helical assembly of macrocycles

摘要: Heptakis(2,6-di-O-ethyl)-beta-cyclodextrin (DE-beta-CD) was crystallized in two forms from hexane and 95% aqueous methanol, respectively: A form I crystal with the space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) a II P3(1). In both crystals, DE-beta-CD molecules are round shape intramolecular O-3-H...O-2 hydrogen bonds. crystal, arranged along twofold screw axis to helically extended polymeric chain by including 6-O-ethyl groups of adjacent molecule. One molecule disorder is located intermolecular channel a-axis. contrast, helical arrangement threefold axis. methanol one water included on O-6 side molecular cavity. The links ethoxy result suggests important role solvent formation molecules.
