A protocol and server for a distributed digital technical report library

摘要: This paper describes {\bf Dienst} -a Distributed Interactive Extensible Network Server for Techreports. The Dienst protocol is based on the World Wide Web HTTP, and provides an object-oriented interface to a document model. model allows one access as whole or by named sub-parts it supports multiple formats document. We have also implemented gateway from server that protocol. Using client (e.g. Mosaic), user may search documents at distributed sites, browse ``thumbnail'''' (very small page) images, view full documents, print them.
