摘要: Instant messaging (IM) has become increasingly popular due to its social functionality. Despite popularity and large user base, little been done the analysis characteristic of IM traffic, especially at chat session level. In this paper, we analyze traffic two instant systems, Yahoo messenger MSN/Windows Live Messenger. We mainly consider distribution level between end users, find in many cases follows a power law, as shown recent work. This law finding was previously used support hypothesis that interval time tail. further show scale property by V-T plot R/S estimation. That is, is characterized strong self-similarity for larger scales. And packet arrival times are independent explaining weak correlation data. Our sheds light on system design optimization provides scientific basis generation.
