摘要: Along with the rapid progress of Internet technologies, Instant Messaging (IM) has become increasingly popular due to its social functionalities. Despite prevalence, little been done analyze characteristics conversational pattern among IM users. In this paper, we establish an ON/OFF model simulate single user conversations in system. With data collected from Chinese software QQ, extensive comparisons have conducted both on statistical and queuing performances. We therefore confirm that ON OFF periods are best-fitted log-normal distribution. mathematical understanding presented by can further design or optimize systems toward a more resource-efficient direction, alleviate potential impact wireless networks where resources require meticulous allocation.
