摘要: Problem: in the past 5 years we have studied treatment response to antimalarials and their combinations Antioquia region (Turbo, Zaragoza El Bagre municipalities). The interpretation better understanding of outcome (adequate clinical response, early failure or late failure) require further information since this depends on host’s parasite’s factors, independently characteristics antimalarial administered. Objectives: define an adequate reference frame which allows for results obtained during assessment studies. This would include demography, epidemiology, climatic social-economic about Colombia, Antioquia, regions Uraba, Bajo Cauca municipalities Turbo Bagre. Methodology: research secondary (publications reports internet resources), some primary (taken from Sistema de Vigilancia Epidemiologica (Sivigila) Direccion Seccional Salud DSSA). Data were (produced by Grupo Malaria, Universidad Antioquia), other authors. With gathered data, tables graphs produced calculations carried out using variables. Results: frequency malaria is presented Colombia period 1960-2002 eradication control programs, failure, are described. Similarly, 1959-2003 discussed terms incidence rates parasite annual indexes (PAI). Non adjusted PAI obtained, therefore exposed population, less 20%. Adjusted 5-6 fold higher that non-adjusted values Antioquia. However not true Uraba regions, where 100% population malaria. Malaria increasing. mean 1996-2002 was 54,08‰ 111,20‰ described considering patient’s gender age, as well A review findings Plasmodium falciparum recommendations use outlined.
