摘要: The etiology of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is unknown. Existing epidemiologic data suggests that MS can be an infectious disease. used to classified as one the 'slow infections'--many these are caused by prions. Prions small, proteinaceous, particles--distinguished from viruses absence intrinsic nucleic acids. In a contrast 'classic' prional diseases (Kuru, Scrapie or Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease) in CNS affect primarily neurons, 'target' cell oligodendrocyte. This may explain differences disease presentation. paper presents pathophysiological model based on assumption Processes leading demyelination seem also involve lymphocytes, astrocytes and macrophages well interferon system.
