Spontaneous abortions after the Three Mile Island nuclear accident: a life table analysis.

摘要: A study was conducted to determine whether the incidence of spontaneous abortion greater than expected near Three Mile Island (TMI) nuclear power plant during months following March 28, 1979 accident. All persons living within five miles TMI were registered shortly after accident, and information on pregnancy at time accident collected. After one year, all cases followed up outcomes ascertained. Using life table method, it found that, given pregnancies four completed weeks gestation counting from first day last menstrual period, estimated (miscarriage before completion 16 gestation) 15.1 per cent for women pregnant Combining abortions stillbirths (delivery a dead fetus gestation), 16.1 gestation. Both incidences are comparable baseline studies fetal loss.
