摘要: Nerve growth factor (NGF) and heme oxygenases (HOs) both exert neuroprotective effects. To characterize the role of HOs in prevention apoptosis by NGF, we investigated effect NGF on expression serum-deprived PC12 cells. Serum deprivation (SD) led to a rapid decrease HO-1 gene followed induction apoptosis. Incubation cells with prevented increased mRNA protein levels, as well HO enzyme activity. HO-2 was unaffected SD or NGF. mitogen-activated kinase (MEK) inhibitors (PD98059 U0126) attenuated ability increase protect against SD-induced augmented transcription but did not alter stability. antisense RNA decreased prevent cell Inhibition activity enhanced intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production NGF-induced reduction ROS These results demonstrate that enhances via MEK activation plays an important antioxidative antiapoptotic effects
