摘要: Modeling human diseases using nonhuman primates including chimpanzee, rhesus, cynomolgus, marmoset and squirrel monkeys has been reported in the past decades. Due to high similarity between humans, genome constitution, cognitive behavioral functions, anatomical structure, metabolic, reproductive, brain functions; have played an important role understanding physiological functions of body, clarifying underlying mechanism diseases, development novel treatments for diseases. However, primate research restricted cognitive, behavioral, biochemical pharmacological approaches due limitation gene transfer technology primates. The recent advancement transgenic that led generation first monkey 2001 a model Huntington's disease (HD) 2008 changed focus. creation HD replicate key pathological features patients further suggests crucial future biomedicine. These successes opened door genetic manipulation new era modeling inherited disorders. We focused on procedures creating monkeys, but our work can be applied transgenesis other species.
