摘要: In the ENT Department of University Central Hospital, Turku, waiting list for elective septoplasty grew to 4 5 years in late 1980s. Therefore, a prospective clinical project was initiated during which all patients septal surgery were re-examined and nasal airway function measured with rhinomanometry. Patients high resistance or other specific indications obstruction selected (n = 432). The remaining excluded from followed up 284). Results showed that if referred without rhinomanometric study, about 10% became symptom-free within 3 years. operated on after defining preoperative intranasal had higher postoperative satisfaction level (85%) than those normal resistances but correcting septum (69%). After years, majority not treated surgically satisfied their conservative treatments, although certain still required some form relieve recurring and/or sinus complaints.
