摘要: Anatomical tracers were injected into electrophysiologically defined sites in somatosensory cortical Area 3b (SI proper) and I (posterior cutaneous field) of owl monkeys after these subdivisions had been extensively explored microelectrode mapping experiments. These experiments revealed that both Areas 1 contain complete separate representations the body surface (Merzenich et al., '78). Restricted injections retrograde tracer, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), either or labeled neurons within a band cells ventroposterior nucleus (VP). The location VP varied with injection site representations, region was overlapping for corresponding parts two representations. Neurons projecting to hand foot architectonically identified subnuclei. Because over half appropriate regions VP, it appears some project Finally, HRP combined anterograde 3H-proline, indicate are reciprocally interconnected 1.
