摘要: Nosocomial sepsis is a frequent complication of caring for very low birth weight infants and incidence varies substantially among centres. Many cases are preventable. An organized approach to understanding the epidemiology nosocomial within unit, implementing evidence-based practices can successfully reduce incidence. Diagnostic accuracy important limit excess empiric antibiotic therapy. Instituting hand hygiene program education, monitoring, consideration waterless disinfectants avoid transmission organisms essential. emphasis on early achievement enteral nutrition, preferably with human milk unnecessary exposure central catheters parenteral nutrition. Use maximum sterile barrier precautions by personnel trained skilled in catheter insertion, followed meticulous care preventing hub contamination will related sepsis. Ultimately, culture NICU needs shift from focus detection infection one prevention.
