摘要: The reproductive biology of the smooth-hound shark Mustelus mustelus was studied in Gulf Gabes (southern Tunisia). Females were found to mature between 1075 and 1230 mm total length (LT) whereas males matured 880 1120 LT. LT at which 50% population reached maturity 971 1172 for females, respectively. Male gonads symmetrical terms mass both functional, females only right ovary functional. seasonal changes oocytes testes development, embryo occurrence near-term post-partum showed that this species displayed a clearly defined annual cycle with parturition occurring during late April early May, after gestation period 10–11 months. Mating took place May June fertilization occurred from July. sex ratio not significantly different unity. Litter size varied four 18 embryos positively correlated maternal young born 340–420 mm.
