摘要: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of group A rotavirus (RVA) gastroenteritis and distribution RVA genotypes as well determine a possible change in age occurrence infection first 2 years after Rotarix® vaccine introduction Saudi Arabia. descriptive included 850 hospitalized children <5 with acute (AG) between October 2013 September 2015. Overall, 78 (9.2%) were positive for during period positivity rate ranging from 11.3% year 6.8% second year. G1 (47.4%) was predominant G type, followed by G2 (28.2%) G9 (10.3%). The most common P type P[8] (69.2%) P[4] (25.6%). decrease G1P[8] 51% 37.1% associated an increase G2P[4] 21.6% 33.3% 2-year period. demonstrated significant RVA-AG cases introduction, especially 1 12 months, reduction circulation G1P[6]. parallel rise spread post-vaccination might pose impact long-term efficacy. Continued surveillance studies different regions are crucial document effectiveness evaluate potential emergence rare/novel genotypes. J. Med. Virol. 89:429-434, 2017. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
