General practitioners' perceptions of the pharmaceutical decision‐support tools in their prescribing software

摘要: Objectives: To explore how Australian general practitioners use pharmaceutical decision-support (PDS) systems; to determine GPs' perceptions of the deficiencies and strengths these they believe can be improved. Design setting: Qualitative analysis discussion from three focus groups GPs (from one rural two urban Divisions General Practice) between April May 2002. Participants: 22 selected include users five most popular prescribing/ clinical practice software products available in Australia. Main outcome measures: Advantages disadvantages using PDS software; ideas for improving attitudes electronic evidence-based guidelines. Results: believed that important interactions may missed because desensitisation resulting too many alerts (which also intrude on workflow); interaction need severity graded only significant ones should appear; improved computer-user interface design could enhance usefulness systems. Conclusions: Our results will provide useful feedback government, vendors developers needs expectations end development agreed standards.
