摘要: The North American Eastern Seaboard is one of the major container handling regions world. However, since 1975 it has declined relative to world development containerisation. Whereas in 1975, 20.4% world's containers passed through ports, 1995 figure was 7.2%. In period 1995, ports Canada and Mid Atlantic range have held their own relatively proportion handled Seaboard. Ports East, primarily New York, lost ground; South gained. Rank size analysis Gini coefficient show a deconcentration away from York middle ranked especially Hampton Roads, Charleston, SC Montreal. Global factors – universal adoption containerisation, changing trade routes brought about by post-Panamax ships intermodality, cargo sharing among alliances explain decline as group. Individual port largely accounted for how well respond global factors.
