摘要: In the present study, in-phase (IP) and out-of-phase (OP) mechanical strain controlled thermomechanical fatigue tests at two rates, viz. 6.67 × 10–5 s−1 3.33 × 10–4 s−1, have been conducted on a near α titanium alloy applied with diffusion aluminide coating. Microstructural examination of failed specimens revealed most likely operative mechanisms causing reduction in life. While lowering rate was found to cause creep–fatigue interaction IP-TMF loading, severity oxidation increased marginally case OP-TMF loading. The exhibited lowest life under loading which attributed dominance over other mechanisms.
