摘要: Objectives/Hypothesis The objective of this study was to analyze outcomes intraoral and extraoral approaches mandibular angle fractures provide cost estimates for comparison. Study Design A retrospective review from January 2005 June 2013 performed patients who underwent open reduction internal fixation at a level I trauma center. Methods Patients were treated by three surgical specialties: otolaryngology–head neck surgery, oral maxillofacial plastic reconstructive surgery. Inpatient outpatient medical records reviewed pertinent data including age, gender, duration follow-up, presence other mandible fractures, approach, team, operative time, postoperative complications. Results Of the 155 with 74% through an whereas 26% approach. The occurrence any complication 69.6% in group 39% (P = 0.009). In propensity-weighted analysis, however, less frequent cases but no longer statistically significant (odd ratio 0.28; 95% confidence interval, 0.08 1.02; P = 0.053). Operating room time significantly shorter We estimate that approach directly saves least $2,900 per case. Conclusion We recommend use repair when clinically appropriate. This can result comparable rate success, savings health care system. Level Evidence 4. Laryngoscope, 2015
