Experimental analysis of the resistance of Paramecium caudatum (ciliophora) against infection by bacterium Holospora undulata

摘要: Summary In some clones of Paramecium caudatum (to be referred to as “resistant”) infectious forms Holospora undulata bacteria which are capable infecting the micronucleus were lysed within 3–4 h after invasion micronucleus. After microsurgical transplantation non-resistant into resistant paramecia (without removal recipient cell's micronucleus), in both micronuclei heterokaryon cell. They not either when a cell was transplanted one. UV-microirradiation or macronucleus from cell, lysis did occur. The data suggest that micronucleus, an independent morphological structure, cannot by itself initiate bacterial lysis. On basis these results it is clear process H. P. mediated activity macronucleus.
