HIV prevention and treatment strategies can help address the overdose crisis

摘要: Since the 1990s, effective HIV prevention and treatment strategies have been coordinated implemented in United States, resulting substantial reductions HIV-related death transmission among people who use injection drugs. During same period, despite long-term funding of War on Drugs policies, opioid addiction, driven by increased prescription heroin accessibility, has made overdose leading cause accidental injury States. This commentary describes how successes drugs HIV/AIDS epidemic can be applied to address crisis.
