摘要: Do experienced police officers have a superior ability to detect impending criminal acts? In order test this Hypothesis 10 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) clips were collected from real events that occurred in and around Nottingham City Centre the UK. Ten control filmed specifically or chosen existing footage match clips, but did not contain any activity. All ended abruptly, immediately before act unfolding, non-criminal either screen turned black, masking video scene, remained frozen on final frame of edited clip. Thirty 30 participants watched clips. At end each clip, asked predict what would happen next. Signal detection analysis indicated marginal evidence show greater accuracy predicting cut black compared with general public. A stronger effect was noted criterion, much more likely crime regardless whether there one. These findings provide promising experiential differences between public when identifying antisocial behaviour CCTV footage, though criterion bias suggests experience may oversensitise individuals non-verbal cues.
