摘要: Background Glioblastoma is a very aggressive brain tumour with poor prognosis despite radical surgery or radiotherapy. Signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) proteins are important elements in intracellular signalling part the JAK-STAT pathway. They activated by growth factors cytokines translocate into nucleus upon activation to exert their function as factors. STAT-1 can be induced interferons has also been found sensitizing tumours chemotherapeutic drugs. Materials methods Forty-six glioblastoma samples have analysed for expression immunohistochemistry. Results In our study performed immunohistochemistry, 22 out 46 glioblastomas (48%) were strongly positive staining antibody, 9 (20%) showed an intermediate reactivity, 8 (17%) low immunoreactivity, 7 (15%) completely negative. tissue, was mostly localized cytoplasm. This location suggests predominant presence inactive form STAT-1. Tumour giant cells frequently stained. Part peritumoral tissue positively reactive glial cells. Interestingly, within infiltration area strong astrocytes, glia, particularly microglial components. Conclusion The majority glioblastomas, together its documented role apoptosis action drugs on cell lines point possible this protein response chemotherapy.
