摘要: A population genetic analysis based on sequences of the mitochondrial control region in 110 red foxes from five sampling localities northern Serbia was carried out. The yielded nine different haplotypes. Neither haplotype phylogeny nor their distribution accordance with geographic location populations. In particular, data failed to detect an unequivocal influence two big rivers, Danube and Tisza, separating populations studied. Population differentiation altogether low, without any relationship rivers as possible migration barriers. Although possibility crossing over bridges or by swimming, thus keeping up gene flow, cannot be ruled out, it is most probable that are not sensitive enough resolve small-scale relationships but rather show patterns determined stochastic processes such drift lineage sorting.
