摘要: Residual stresses have been measured by x-ray diffraction in three different metal matrix composites. In large diameter fiber composites, the biaxial analysis was found to be adequate determine longitudinal residual stress, which approximately uniform from surface at least a depth of first row fibers. The magnitude stress about half that predicted an elastic analysis, indicating substantial plastic flow and sliding fiber/matrix interface occurred during fabrication. Measurements on Cu/Gr composite Al 2124/SiCw fatigue samples also gave unanticipated results. These examples demonstrate measurement composites is preferred over simple calculations because so many variables actual state.
