摘要: Individual fishery quota (IFQ) management eliminates the race for fish and may improve economic efficiency, conservation, safety in fisheries. Empirical information documenting these effects is limited, even though IFQs have been used since late 1970s. We analyzed data from Alaska sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbria) longline fishery, which came under IFQ 1995. compared with fishery-independent survey data, acted as a control to separate annual changes population demographics due management. found that increased catch rate decreased harvest of immature fish.
