摘要: UNLABELLED The effectiveness of microwave disinfection maxillary complete dentures on the treatment Candida-related denture stomatitis was evaluated. Patients (n = 60) were randomly assigned to one four groups 15 subjects each; CONTROL GROUP patients performed routine care; Mw group: had their upper microwaved (650 W per 6 min) three times week for 30 days; group MwMz: received in conjunction with topical application miconazole day Mz: antifungal therapy MwMz. Cytological smears and mycological cultures taken from palates all before at follow-up (days 60 90). treatments evaluated by Kruskal-Wallis Mann-Whitney tests. Microbial clinical analysis control demonstrated no significant decrease candidal infection over trial. Smears MwMz exhibited absence Candida treatment. On 90, few mycelial forms observed 11 (36.6%) MwMz, but not palatal smears. Miconazole (group Mz) neither caused reduction inflammation nor eradicated palates. Microwaving effective stomatitis. recurrence dramatically reduced.
