DESIGN AND METHODS Cross-section 862 Hawaiians, ages 19-88. Physical exam included anthropometric measures, blood pressure, glucose lipid personal interview. RESULTS Age-adjusted prevalences (25.1% in men vs. 22.6% women) impaired fasting (IFG) (47.8% 39.3%) increased age were higher men. Fasting was diabetic than women (209 mg/dL 179, p = .0117). BMI, waist circumference, systolic triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol participants (all < .01), high-density lower (p .005). CONCLUSIONS Hawaiians high. The high proportion IFG increase suggest that community-based programs needed to focus on diabetes-related CVD.
