The present study investigates further population structure clinical C. neoformans isolates from south Brazil. One hundred five 19 (pigeon excreta Eucalyptus spp.) Brazilian state Rio Grande do Sul were characterized based on morphological, biochemical, molecular serological data. majority analyzed belonged to var. grubii serotype A (89.5 52.6%, respectively), mating type alpha (98.1 94.7%, respectively) phospholipase-positive (94.3 73.7%, respectively). PCR-fingerprinting with microsatellite-specific primer M13 minisatellite-specific (GACA)(4) grouped into VNI 52.6% isolates). Our results add considerable new information few available data ecology, biology epidemiology southern region
