摘要: Objective – Chronic administration of corticosteroids has been reported to selectively impair explicit memory in systemic diseases without central nervous system involvement. Our aim was verify that a short course pulsed intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) administered for the treatment relapse impairs cognitive functions relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients and determine whether this impairment is reversible. Material methods Neuropsychological evaluations were made before start treatment, 7 60 days after end 14 RRMS patients. The neuropsychological battery also 12 controls matched age, sex years education. Results performed worse than at their baseline evaluation variety tasks. IVMP induced selective which completely recovered treatment. Conclusions In patients, induces reversible memory.
