A systematic review of educational interventions to change behaviour of prescribers in hospital settings, with a particular emphasis on new prescribers

摘要: Aims Prescribing is a complex task and high risk area of clinical practice. Poor prescribing occurs across staff grades settings but new prescribers are attributed much the blame. New may not be confident or even competent to prescribe probably have different support development needs than their more experienced colleagues. Unfortunately, little known about what interventions effective in this group. Previous systematic reviews distinguished between staff, been narrow scope now out date. Therefore, inform design educational change behaviour, particularly that prescibers, we conducted review existing hospital-based interventions. Methods Embase, Medline, SIGLE, Cinahl PsychINFO were searched for relevant studies published 1994–2010. Studies describing behaviour hospital included, with an emphasis on prescibers. The bibliographies included papers also studies. Interventions effectiveness classified using frameworks quality was assessed validated instrument. Results Sixty-four review. Only 13% specifically targeted prescribers. Most (72%) deemed changing no particular type stood as most effective.
