摘要: INTRODUCTION Tinea capitis (TC) is a common fungal infection in children but less frequently encountered adults. This study evaluates the clinical characteristics and mycological studies of adult TC among Egyptian population. METHODS A multicenter included patients diagnosed with from 2002 to 2012. RESULTS The 58 predominance females (84.5%). average age was 43.2 years mean duration lesions 7.1 ± 2.41 months. history close contact animals reported 17.2% Hepatitis C virus recorded 34.4%. Clinically, scaly scalp (37.9%), alopecia (22.4%), pyoderma-like (13.8%) were most presentations. parietal (27.6%) temporal (25.8%) regions affected areas. KOH mounting showed endothrix spores 56.9%, ectothrix 34.5%, favic chaplets (hyphae) 8.6%. Fungal culture Trichophyton violaceum Microsporum audouinii 19%, canis 15.5%, schoenleini CONCLUSIONS cause Egyptians. Increased awareness variable forms will help identifying more cases, especially those HCV animals.
