摘要: The use of liver histopathology in various fish species as a biomarker marine monitoring programmes to assess the biological effect exposure anthropogenic contaminants is well established. However, although eelpout (Zoarces viviparus) has repeatedly been recommended an appropriate bioindicator for purposes Baltic Sea, information on histopathological alterations this scarce. In order obtain overview, total 1070 eelpout, collected period between spring 2001 and winter 2010 from 34 sampling sites distributed over large parts were histologically analyzed. Liver lesions recorded classified according established lesion categories. A high prevalence non-specific early toxicopathic non-neoplastic hepatic was recorded. contrast, pre-neoplastic observed only rare cases neoplastic changes absent. comparison with published data other revealed that may indicate effects environmental stressors including contaminants. results present study, thus, support application monitoring.
