Treatment of Severely Recalcitrant Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria: A Discussion of Relevant Issues

摘要: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a common disorder with prevalence of 1% that characterized by recurrent wheals, angioedema, or both. CSU self-limited but in many patients symptoms recur for several years and can be refractory to standard therapies. In this review, we present an illustrative case female patient who, despite taking 15 antihistamines day addition number second-line therapies, continued treatment. However, once initiated subcutaneous treatment omalizumab 300 mg every 4 weeks, she experienced rapid relief her symptoms. Through case, review the relevant issues, including efficacy laboratory tests identify cause patient's CSU, association between thyroid disease its relevance options, recommendation increase antihistamine dose up fourfold possible adverse events associated option. We also include discussion use therapies as well patients.
