Electrochemotherapy—a novel method of cancer treatment

摘要: A critical review is presented on a novel method of treating cancer by combination an electric field with chemotherapeutic agents. The work described here summarizes the current state technique known as electrical impulse chemotherapy (EIC) or electrochemotherapy (ECT). discusses in vitro results specific cell lines, vivo animals and clinical patients squamous carcinomas head neck. In all cases, it has been found that uptake various drugs tumor cells can be increased markedly EIC/ECT. Partial responses complete cures have observed without any damaging side-effects, provided strength kept sufficiently low. ECT followed injection low dose interleukin-2 (IL-2) IL-2 secreting shown better than alone. There appears to systemic effect strong indication immune response may elicited this treatment. Finally, we discuss challenges involved hardware requirements for EIC/ECT its future prospects both drug delivery gene therapy.
