摘要: The Amur tiger, Panthera tigris altaica, is a highly endangered felid whose range and population size has been severely reduced in recent times. At present, the wild estimated at 490 individuals, having rebounded from 20–30 tigers remaining following severe bottleneck 1940's. current study presents preliminary data on patterns levels of genetic variation mitochondrial DNA control region using extracted non-invasively sampled faecal material, collected throughout entire P. t. altaica Russian Far East. Analysis 82 scat samples representing least 27 individuals revealed extremely low CR haplotype diversity, characterized by single widespread (96.4%) two rare variants, each differing step within hypervariable I (2.4%) central conserved regions (1.2%), respectively. A comparison with previous cytochrome bvariation 14 captive potentially greater amount represented captivity relative to that found population. discussed light demographic processes might have shaped these as well potential bias introduced through analysis fecal samples. These results highlight continuing need assess even recovering populations are increasing number underscore important role breeding programs may play preserving remnant diversity species.
