摘要: The fowl typhoid is a systemic disease of chickens caused by Salmonella enterica subsp. serovar Gallinarum biovar (SG), microorganism that does not produce flagella. It suggested due to the absence flagella SG poorly recognized bird immune system. As result, just mild inflammation induced in gut mucosa, favoring development severe infection. In order investigate this hypothesis, previous study, mutant capable producing (SG Fla) was constructed. This able trigger mRNA pro-inflammatory cytokines e chemokines cultured cells and less pathogenic birds than wild type strain. However, it noticed Fla trends stop production after culturing two or more times on solid medium, becoming non-flagelated Fla). present study aimed at comparing pathogenicity Fla, birds. first experiment, mortality rates strains fecal excretion were evaluated. second assay, ability colonizing ceca invading liver spleen compared. addition this, presence intensity macroscopic microscopic lesions organs When inoculated lower amount (10 CFU) provoked non-flagellate strains. results indicate excreted other observed recovered from cecal contents higher amounts Fla. isolated earlier spleen. degeneration, congestion, changes color (greenish-yellow greenish), lymphoid reactivity multifocal areas necrosis noticed. Spleen enlarged congested; foci white pulp depletion also organ. cloacal bursa polymorphonuclear infiltrates depletion. edema mucosa submucosa, dilation lymphatic vessels villous atrophy. All these findings pronounced with hepatic parenchyma intense challenged Apparently flagellar synthesis stimulated during infection similar strain; both keywords: poultry, flagellum, pathogenicity, phenotype reversion, Gallinarum.
