摘要: The nucleotide sequence of the mtlA gene, which codes for mannitol-specific Enzyme II Escherichia coli phosphotransferase system, is presented. From gene sequence, primary translation product predicted to consist 637 amino acids (Mr = 67,893). This result compared acid composition and molecular weight purified mannitol protein. hydrophobic hydrophilic properties enzyme were evaluated along its using a computer program (Kyte, J., Doolittle, R. F. (1982) J. Mol. Biol. 157, 105-132). analysis predicts that NH2-terminal half resides within membrane, whereas COOH-terminal has soluble possible functions such protein structure are discussed. RNA mapping identified promoter mRNA start point mtl operon.
