摘要: AbstractFine-scale vertical zooplankton distributions were compared in October 1978 on a cross-shelf transect south of Long Island, New York, at time-series station and Georges Bank. Samples collected 5 to 10-m depth intervals with pumping system fine mesh (102 μm) nets. The waters Island strongly stratified, whereas those Bank isothermal. Juvenile or adult copepods accounted for mean 91% the total number animals collected. Of these, one species (Oithona similis) was overwhelmingly dominant, accounting 50% zooplankters Comparison our values abundance O. similis obtained coarser meshes nets previous investigations these during same season suggest that studies may have underestimated by least factor 20.Vertical some domina...
