摘要: Abstract Background: This work expands on recent observations that the trefoil peptides pS2 and human spasmolytic polypeptide (hSP) are expressed in ulceration-associated cell lineage (UACL) glands developing chronic ulcerative conditions. Methods: Trefoil peptide expression small intestinal Crohn's disease was examined by situ hybridization to reveal sites of messenger RNAs encoding hSP immunohistochemistry immunoelectron microscopy localize UACL adjacent goblet neuroendocrine cells. Results: Goblet cells near RNA peptide; ultrastructural immunolocalization revealed copackaged within mucous granules. Neuroendocrine hyperplasia marked crypts UACL; with Conclusions: Copackaging a secretory protein, pS2, both granules, which have different functions, is unusual indicates an important role for process itself or as ligand delivered its receptors via routes. It concluded considerable potential functional importance inflammatory bowel disease.
